What is Celiac Disease Panel (tTG-IgA + Total IgA)?

Screens for celiac disease by measuring tissue transglutaminase IgA antibodies and total IgA level. Celiac disease is an autoimmune reaction to gluten that damages the small intestine.

Why is this test important?

tTG-IgA is the most sensitive and specific screening test for celiac disease. Total IgA is measured simultaneously because IgA deficiency (common in celiac) can cause false-negative results.

How to Prepare

You MUST be eating gluten regularly for at least 6 weeks before testing. A gluten-free diet will cause false-negative results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to fast before my blood test?
It depends on the test. Tests like lipid profile and fasting blood sugar require 10-12 hours of fasting. Tests like CBC, vitamin D, and thyroid do not require fasting. Each test page on our website clearly states the fasting requirements.
