A trained healthcare professional whose job includes drawing blood samples. They bring sealed, single-use collection equipment, take the sample, label it, and transport it to the laboratory under the required conditions.
The draw itself takes a few minutes. Most of the appointment is paperwork and identity confirmation. You do not need to set aside a morning for it.
Book a morning slot. Fasting tests generally need 8–12 hours without food, which is far easier to do overnight than during the day. Each test page states whether fasting is required before you book.
The person being tested has to be present — the sample is theirs and identity is confirmed at the door. For a child or a dependent adult, a parent or guardian should be there.
