What is BETA 2 GLYCOPROTEIN 1 ANTIBODIES, IGM?

This test identifies IgM antibodies against Beta 2 Glycoprotein 1, a protein involved in the complex process of blood coagulation. These antibodies are part of a group known as antiphospholipid antibodies, which can interfere with normal blood clotting.

Why is this test important?

The detection of IgM Beta 2 Glycoprotein 1 antibodies, often alongside IgG and IgA, is important in the diagnosis of Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS). APS can lead to serious health issues such as recurrent blood clots, strokes, and pregnancy complications, making this test valuable for risk assessment.
