What is ASKA-SKELETAL (STRIATED)MUSCLE ANTIBODY,(SERUM IF)?

The ASKA-Skeletal Muscle Antibody test detects specific antibodies in your blood that target skeletal (striated) muscle tissue. This test helps identify autoimmune conditions where your immune system mistakenly attacks your own muscle cells.

Why is this test important?

This test is primarily used to help diagnose Myasthenia Gravis, especially when associated with a thymoma (a tumor of the thymus gland). Elevated levels can indicate an autoimmune attack on muscle tissue, guiding treatment and monitoring disease progression.
