What is ANTI SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE (ASCA), IgM ANTIBODIES?

This test identifies IgM antibodies targeting Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a common yeast. While less common than IgA or IgG, it can provide additional insights into immune responses.

Why is this test important?

The presence of ASCA IgM antibodies is less frequently used in routine diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease compared to IgA and IgG. However, it can sometimes offer supplementary information regarding the immune system's response to certain conditions.
