What is ANTI SACCHAROMYCES CEREVISIAE (ASCA), IgG ANTIBODIES?

This test measures IgG antibodies against Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a common yeast. It is used to help diagnose and differentiate inflammatory bowel diseases.

Why is this test important?

High levels of ASCA IgG antibodies are frequently found in patients with Crohn's disease. This test, often used alongside ASCA IgA, helps in confirming diagnosis and distinguishing Crohn's from other bowel conditions.
