What is NSE Neuron Specific Enolase?

This blood test measures the level of Neuron Specific Enolase (NSE), an enzyme found in nerve cells and certain neuroendocrine cells. Elevated levels can sometimes indicate the presence of specific conditions, particularly certain types of cancer.
