What is CA-125 (Ovarian Cancer Marker)?
Measures CA-125 protein levels, which can be elevated in ovarian cancer. Also used to monitor treatment response and detect recurrence in ovarian cancer patients.
Why is this test important?
CA-125 > 35 U/mL is abnormal. Can also be elevated in endometriosis, PID, liver disease, and pregnancy. Most useful in postmenopausal women where benign causes are less common.
How to Prepare
No special preparation. Note menstrual cycle day as levels fluctuate.
