What is CA 19-9 (Pancreatic Cancer Marker)?

Measures CA 19-9 levels, a tumor marker primarily associated with pancreatic cancer. Also elevated in bile duct, gallbladder, and colorectal cancers.

Why is this test important?

CA 19-9 > 37 U/mL is abnormal. Used primarily for monitoring pancreatic cancer treatment. Can be elevated in pancreatitis, liver disease, and bile duct obstruction.
