What is Apolipoprotein A1 & B?
Measures Apolipoprotein A1 (the main protein in HDL/good cholesterol) and Apolipoprotein B (the main protein in LDL/bad cholesterol). Provides a more precise cardiovascular risk assessment than standard lipid panel.
Why is this test important?
ApoB reflects the total number of atherogenic particles and is considered a better predictor of cardiovascular risk than LDL cholesterol alone. ApoB/ApoA1 ratio is a strong risk indicator.
