What is Troponin I (Cardiac)?
Measures cardiac troponin I, a protein released when heart muscle cells are damaged. The most sensitive and specific marker for heart attack (myocardial infarction).
Why is this test important?
High-sensitivity troponin can detect even tiny amounts of heart damage. Serial measurements 3-6 hours apart help diagnose acute myocardial infarction. Also elevated in myocarditis and heart failure.
How to Prepare
No special preparation required. Usually ordered in emergency settings.
