BETA 2 GLYCOPROTEIN 1 ANTIBODIES, IGM
This test identifies IgM antibodies against Beta 2 Glycoprotein 1, a protein involved in the complex process of blood coagulation. These antibodies are part of a group known as antiphospholipid antibodies, which can interfere with normal blood clotting.
BETA 2 MICROGLOBULIN, CSF
This test measures the level of Beta-2 Microglobulin (B2M) in your cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). B2M is a protein found on the surface of most cells, and elevated levels in CSF can indicate inflammation or damage within the central nervous system.
BETA 2 MICROGLOBULIN, URINE
This test measures the level of Beta-2 Microglobulin (B2M) in your urine. B2M is normally reabsorbed by healthy kidneys, so its presence in urine can indicate damage to the kidney tubules, which are responsible for filtering waste.
Beta Amyloid 42/40 Ratio, CSF
This test measures the ratio of two specific forms of beta-amyloid proteins (Aβ42 and Aβ40) in your cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). An altered ratio can indicate changes in the brain associated with certain neurodegenerative diseases.
Beta carotene
This test measures the level of beta-carotene in your blood. Beta-carotene is a powerful antioxidant and a precursor to Vitamin A, essential for vision, immune function, and skin health. It's obtained through diet, mainly from colorful fruits and vegetables.
Beta Crosslaps
The Beta Crosslaps test measures a specific marker released during bone breakdown. It helps assess the rate at which your bones are being reabsorbed, providing insights into your bone health. This test is important for understanding bone turnover processes.
Beta Galactocerebrosidase Krabbe
The Beta Galactocerebrosidase Krabbe test measures the activity of an enzyme called beta-galactocerebrosidase. A deficiency in this enzyme is linked to Krabbe disease, a rare genetic disorder that affects the nervous system.
Beta Galactosidase GM 1 / MPS IV B
This test measures the activity of the beta-galactosidase enzyme, which is vital for breaking down certain complex sugars and fats in the body. Low activity can indicate genetic conditions like GM1 gangliosidosis or Morquio B syndrome (MPS IV B).
Beta Glucosidase Gaucher
The Beta Glucosidase Gaucher test measures the activity of the beta-glucosidase enzyme. A deficiency in this enzyme is characteristic of Gaucher disease, a genetic disorder where fatty substances accumulate in certain organs.
BETA HCG, FREE
The Free Beta HCG test measures a specific subunit of the Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) hormone. While HCG is primarily known as a pregnancy hormone, the free beta subunit is often used in specific screening protocols.
Beta Hexosaminidase A
This test measures the level of an enzyme called Beta Hexosaminidase A in your blood. This enzyme plays a crucial role in breaking down certain fatty substances in your brain and nerve cells. Abnormal levels can indicate a problem with this process.
Beta Hexosaminidase T
This test measures the total activity of Beta Hexosaminidase enzymes in your blood, which includes both A and B forms. These enzymes are vital for breaking down specific fatty substances within your cells.
