What is URINARY PROTEIN?

This test measures the amount of protein present in your urine. Normally, only very small amounts of protein are found in urine, as healthy kidneys prevent most proteins from passing through.

Why is this test important?

Elevated protein in urine (proteinuria) can be an early sign of kidney damage or disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes. It's an important indicator for monitoring kidney health and detecting potential issues before they become severe.

How to Prepare

Do I need to fast before my blood test?▼
It depends on the test. Tests like lipid profile and fasting blood sugar require 10-12 hours of fasting. Tests like CBC, vitamin D, and thyroid do not require fasting. Each test page on our website clearly states the fasting requirements.
How soon will I receive my results?▼
Most routine tests have results within 24-48 hours. Some specialized tests take longer. Each test page shows its expected turnaround time, and we will let you know when your report is ready.
