What is TRANSFERRIN?

The Transferrin test measures the amount of transferrin, a protein in your blood that binds to and transports iron throughout the body. It plays a crucial role in iron metabolism, ensuring iron is delivered to where it's needed for red blood cell production and other vital functions.

Why is this test important?

This test is often used to help diagnose and monitor iron deficiency anemia, iron overload conditions (hemochromatosis), and liver disease. Abnormal transferrin levels can indicate issues with iron absorption, storage, or utilization, guiding appropriate treatment.

How to Prepare

It depends on the test. Tests like lipid profile and fasting blood sugar require 10-12 hours of fasting. Tests like CBC, vitamin D, and thyroid do not require fasting. Each test page on our website clearly states the fasting requirements.

Most routine tests have results within 24-48 hours. Some specialized tests take longer. Each test page shows its expected turnaround time, and we will let you know when your report is ready.
