What is THROMBIN TIME; TT?

The Thrombin Time (TT) test measures how long it takes for a blood clot to form after a substance called thrombin is added to a blood sample. It assesses the final step of the clotting process.

Why is this test important?

This test is important for evaluating bleeding or clotting disorders, monitoring heparin therapy, and assessing liver function. Abnormal results can indicate issues with fibrinogen, a key protein for blood clot formation.
