What is Stool Occult Blood (FOB)?

Detects hidden (occult) blood in stool that is not visible to the naked eye. A key screening test for colorectal cancer and gastrointestinal bleeding.

Why is this test important?

Annual FOB screening reduces colorectal cancer mortality by 15-33%. Positive results require colonoscopy follow-up. False positives from red meat and certain medications.

How to Prepare

Avoid red meat, vitamin C >250mg, and NSAIDs 3 days before. Collect 3 samples on consecutive days.
