What is LAMBDA LIGHT CHAIN QUANTITATIVE, SERUM?

This blood test measures the amount of lambda light chains in your serum. Light chains are parts of antibodies, and abnormal levels can indicate certain conditions affecting the immune system or blood.

Why is this test important?

Serum lambda light chain levels are important for diagnosing and monitoring plasma cell dyscrasias, including multiple myeloma, Waldenström's macroglobulinemia, and amyloidosis. It helps detect abnormal protein production.
