What is Immunoglobulin D, Quantitative?

This test measures the amount of Immunoglobulin D (IgD) in your blood. While its exact function is not fully understood, IgD is primarily found on the surface of B lymphocytes and is involved in B cell activation.

Why is this test important?

Elevated IgD levels are rare but can be associated with certain conditions, including hyper-IgD syndrome (HIDS), a rare inherited inflammatory disorder, and some plasma cell dyscrasias. It helps investigate specific immune system abnormalities.
