What is Hepatitis C Antibody (Anti-HCV)?

Screens for hepatitis C infection by detecting antibodies against the virus. Hepatitis C is curable with modern antiviral therapy if detected early.

Why is this test important?

Positive antibody test indicates current or past infection. Requires confirmatory HCV RNA PCR test. Hepatitis C is now curable in >95% of cases with direct-acting antivirals.
