What is Hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) HDV-IgG Antibody?

This test detects IgG antibodies to the Hepatitis Delta Virus (HDV) in your blood. The presence of HDV-IgG antibodies usually indicates a past or chronic HDV infection, which only occurs in individuals already infected with Hepatitis B.

Why is this test important?

HDV-IgG antibodies are important for diagnosing chronic Hepatitis Delta infection, which can worsen liver disease in people with Hepatitis B. This helps assess the long-term impact of the infection on liver health.
