What is DHEA-Sulfate?

Measures DHEA-S, an androgen produced primarily by the adrenal glands. Used to evaluate adrenal function, excess androgen production, and conditions like PCOS and adrenal tumors.

Why is this test important?

Unlike cortisol, DHEA-S has minimal diurnal variation making it a reliable adrenal androgen marker. Elevated in congenital adrenal hyperplasia and adrenal tumors. Declines naturally with age.
