What is Cortisol (Morning)?

Measures morning cortisol, the primary stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Used to evaluate adrenal function and diagnose Cushing syndrome or Addison disease.

Why is this test important?

Cortisol follows a diurnal rhythm, peaking in early morning. Morning cortisol < 3 µg/dL suggests adrenal insufficiency. Levels > 20 µg/dL may indicate Cushing syndrome.

How to Prepare

Must be collected between 7-9 AM. Avoid stress and strenuous exercise the evening before.
