What is Cold Agglutinin?

The Cold Agglutinin test detects specific antibodies in your blood that react to red blood cells at cold temperatures, causing them to clump together. These antibodies are called cold agglutinins.

Why is this test important?

Elevated cold agglutinins can indicate a condition called cold agglutinin disease, a type of autoimmune hemolytic anemia where the immune system attacks red blood cells. It can also be associated with certain infections like Mycoplasma pneumonia or lymphomas.
