G6PD Deficiency Screening
Screens for Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase deficiency, one of the most common enzyme disorders worldwide and particularly prevalent in the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
GALACTOMANNAN (ASPERGILLUS ANTIGEN), SERUM
The Galactomannan (Aspergillus Antigen) test measures a specific component of the cell wall of Aspergillus fungi in your blood. This test helps determine if you have an active infection caused by Aspergillus, a common type of mold that can cause serious illness, especially in vulnerable individuals.
Galactose (Classical) Transferase
The Galactose (Classical) Transferase test measures the activity of the Galactose-1-phosphate Uridyltransferase (GALT) enzyme in your blood. This enzyme is crucial for converting galactose into glucose, and a deficiency indicates Classic Galactosemia (Type I), the most common and severe form of this genetic disorder.
Galactose (Total) Quantitative
The Galactose (Total) Quantitative test measures the total amount of galactose in your blood. This test is often used as a screening tool for Galactosemia, a group of genetic disorders that affect how the body processes galactose, or to monitor the effectiveness of dietary management in individuals already diagnosed.
Galactose (Total) Screening Qualitative
This test screens for total galactose in the blood, helping to identify potential issues with how your body processes galactose, a type of sugar found in milk and dairy products. It's a qualitative test, meaning it indicates the presence or absence of elevated levels rather than an exact amount.
Galectin-3
The Galectin-3 test measures the level of a protein called Galectin-3 in your blood. This protein is involved in various cellular processes, including inflammation and fibrosis (scarring), and can be elevated in certain health conditions.
Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT)
The Gamma Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) test measures the amount of GGT enzyme in your blood. GGT is primarily found in the liver, but also in the kidneys, pancreas, and gallbladder, and its levels can rise when these organs are damaged.
Gardnerella vaginalis PCR
This PCR test detects the presence of Gardnerella vaginalis bacteria, a common cause of bacterial vaginosis (BV). It's a highly sensitive method to identify the specific genetic material of the bacteria in a urine sample.
GASTRIN
This blood test measures the level of gastrin, a hormone produced by the stomach that stimulates the release of stomach acid. Gastrin plays a key role in the digestive process.
GASTRO INTESTINAL PANEL (GI PANEL) PCR
This comprehensive PCR test analyzes a stool sample to detect multiple pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and parasites, that can cause gastrointestinal infections. It provides a broad overview of potential causes for digestive issues.
Gastrointestinal Bacteria Panel
This stool test specifically identifies various bacterial pathogens that can cause gastrointestinal infections and symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, or abdominal cramps. It uses advanced methods to detect bacterial DNA.
Gastrointestinal Parasite Panel
This stool test specifically looks for parasitic organisms that can infect the gastrointestinal tract, causing symptoms such as chronic diarrhea, weight loss, or abdominal discomfort. It identifies the genetic material of common parasites.
