What is URINARY URIC ACID?

This test measures the amount of uric acid in your urine. Uric acid is a natural waste product from the digestion of certain foods and the breakdown of cells, which is normally filtered out by the kidneys.

Why is this test important?

Urinary uric acid levels are important for diagnosing and monitoring conditions like gout, kidney stones, and certain kidney disorders. It helps determine if your body is producing too much uric acid or not effectively eliminating it.

How to Prepare

You may be asked to collect a urine sample over a 24-hour period. Your doctor might also advise you to avoid certain foods or medications before the test.

It depends on the test. Tests like lipid profile and fasting blood sugar require 10-12 hours of fasting. Tests like CBC, vitamin D, and thyroid do not require fasting. Each test page on our website clearly states the fasting requirements.
