What is Reverse T3?

The Reverse T3 (rT3) test measures the level of an inactive form of thyroid hormone in your blood. Unlike active T3, rT3 does not stimulate metabolism and can be elevated during times of stress or illness.

Why is this test important?

This test helps evaluate thyroid function, especially when standard thyroid tests are normal but symptoms of thyroid dysfunction persist. It can also be useful in assessing non-thyroidal illness syndrome, where the body conserves energy during critical illness.

It depends on the test. Tests like lipid profile and fasting blood sugar require 10-12 hours of fasting. Tests like CBC, vitamin D, and thyroid do not require fasting. Each test page on our website clearly states the fasting requirements.
