What is Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL)?

This blood test measures the levels of Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL), a protein released into the bloodstream when nerve cells are damaged. It acts as a biomarker for nerve injury and degeneration in the brain and spinal cord.
