What is LAMBDA LIGHT CHAIN QUANTITATIVE, 24 hrs. URINE?

This test measures the amount of lambda light chains in a 24-hour urine collection. Light chains are components of antibodies, and abnormal levels can indicate certain blood disorders or kidney issues.

Why is this test important?

Elevated lambda light chains in urine can be a marker for plasma cell disorders such as multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, or light chain deposition disease. It helps in diagnosis, monitoring disease progression, and assessing treatment response.
