What is JC/Bk Virus DNA detection Urine?

This test detects the presence of DNA from JC (John Cunningham) and BK viruses in your urine. It indicates if these viruses are being shed through your urinary system.

Why is this test important?

While both viruses can be shed in urine without causing disease, high or increasing levels, especially of BK virus, can be a concern for kidney health in immunocompromised patients, particularly kidney transplant recipients (BKVN). This test aids in monitoring.
