What is JC/Bk Virus DNA detection CSF?

This test detects the presence of DNA from both JC (John Cunningham) and BK viruses in your cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). It's used to identify if either of these polyomaviruses is active in the central nervous system.

Why is this test important?

Both JC and BK viruses can cause serious complications, particularly in immunocompromised individuals. JC virus is linked to PML, while BK virus can cause neurological issues. This test helps diagnose these infections in the brain and spinal cord.
