What is Inhibin A?

Inhibin A is a hormone primarily produced by the ovaries in women and plays a role in regulating the menstrual cycle. In pregnancy, it's part of prenatal screening to assess the risk of certain chromosomal abnormalities.

Why is this test important?

In non-pregnant women, Inhibin A levels can be used as a tumor marker for certain ovarian cancers. During pregnancy, it's included in the quad screen to help assess the risk of Down syndrome and other conditions.
