What is Immunohistochemistry -CD3?

This test uses immunohistochemistry to detect the CD3 protein in a tissue sample. CD3 is a crucial marker found on the surface of T-lymphocytes (T-cells), a key component of the immune system. It helps identify and quantify T-cells in various tissues.

Why is this test important?

The CD3 test is essential for diagnosing and classifying T-cell lymphomas and leukemias, distinguishing them from B-cell lymphomas. It also helps assess the presence of T-cells in inflammatory conditions and other lymphoid disorders.
