What is IMMUNOFIXATION ELECTROPHORESIS?

This test helps identify and characterize abnormal proteins, called monoclonal proteins or M-proteins, in your blood. These proteins are produced by a type of white blood cell called plasma cells and can indicate certain blood disorders.

Why is this test important?

It is crucial for diagnosing and monitoring conditions like multiple myeloma, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, and AL amyloidosis. Detecting these proteins helps doctors understand the disease's progression and guide treatment decisions.
