What is Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) IgG?

This test measures IgG antibodies to Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) in your blood. IgG antibodies typically develop a few weeks after an infection and remain detectable for a long time, indicating a past exposure or immunity.

Why is this test important?

It helps determine if you have been infected with HHV-6 in the past. HHV-6 is known to cause roseola (a common childhood rash) and can reactivate in individuals with weakened immune systems, leading to more severe complications.
