What is CYTOMEGALOVIRUS (CMV) IGG AVIDITY?

This blood test measures the "avidity" or binding strength of your CMV IgG antibodies. It helps determine if a CMV infection occurred recently or in the more distant past.

Why is this test important?

CMV IgG Avidity is particularly valuable during pregnancy when a positive CMV IgG and IgM result can be confusing. High avidity suggests an older infection, while low avidity indicates a more recent primary infection, which carries different risks.
