What is Biotinidase Quantitative Serum?

This test measures the amount of biotinidase enzyme in your blood serum. Biotinidase is essential for recycling biotin, a crucial vitamin (B7) needed for many metabolic processes in the body. Low levels can indicate a rare genetic disorder affecting biotin utilization.

Why is this test important?

The Biotinidase Quantitative Serum test is primarily used for newborn screening to detect biotinidase deficiency, a treatable genetic condition.
