What is THYROID PROFILE (TOTAL)?

The Total Thyroid Profile measures the total amount of thyroid hormones (Total T3 and Total T4) in your blood, including both the free and protein-bound forms. It provides an overall picture of the thyroid gland's hormone production.

Why is this test important?

This test is often used as an initial screening tool to assess general thyroid health. While useful for detecting significant imbalances, further tests like the Free Thyroid Profile may be needed for a more precise diagnosis, especially if symptoms are present.
